SharePoint Web Administrator

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will work as part of a team that provides support at a Department of Defense Management Consulting Firm. The administrator will be responsible for designing and maintaining SharePoint and related infrastructure in support of business goals while assuring conformance with Department of Defense Information Technology policies and procedures. Applications supported include Internet, intranet and extranet sites based on SharePoint and .Net technologies. Success in this position requires extensive technical knowledge, the ability to work as part of a highly qualified team and exceptional communications and collaborative skills. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership and support of SharePoint and Web infrastructure
  • Provide and maintain solutions that exploit “out of the box" SharePoint functionality
  • Support deployment of custom solutions when required to meet business objectives
  • Participate in development of and assure compliance with appropriate governance and practices
  • Apply rigorous Change Management practices in order to assure reliability and compliance
  • Establish and document appropriate monitoring, maintenance and support processes in order to provide a highly available and high performing SharePoint environment. Specify tools and practices that support those processes
  • Plan and prioritize multiple work streams, including major projects/deployments and day-to-day activities
  • Work with customers to define customer requirements, communicating opportunities where technology can be used to improve business processes
  • Collaborate with SharePoint Development team regarding architecture, review of new technologies and selection of 3rd party tools
  • Consult across the organization on SharePoint-related projects and technologies
  • Provide technical guidance to SharePoint administrators across the enterprise
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2+ years’ experience supporting / maintaining SharePoint in an enterprise environment
  • 2+ years administering SharePoint 2010 in an intranet environment involving multiple farms (production, test, stage, DR) and applications (content management, document management, collaborative environments)
  • Proficiency performing SharePoint installations and upgrades
  • Experience with SQL clustering, log shipping and performance tuning as related to SharePoint
  • Experience configuring/troubleshooting service applications such as Search, User Profiles, Managed Metadata
  • Experience administering/configuring Kerberos, IIS 7.5 and certificates
  • Familiarity with Windows Server 2008 R2, DNS, Active Directory, VMware virtualization
  • Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communications
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Must be located in the Washington, DC metro area

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SharePoint in Internet and extranet environments
  • Experience with SharePoint My Sites, Enterprise Features, SQL Server Reporting Services integration
  • Familiarity with K2 blackpearl, Axceler ControlPoint, Metalogix StoragePoint
  • Experience supporting WebTrends Analytics solutions
  • Familiarity with F5 LTM load balancing
  • Familiarity with publishing SharePoint applications via Microsoft Unified Access Gateway
  • Familiarity with Project Server
  • Microsoft SharePoint certifications
  • Department of Defense Information Assurance Technician security certifications
